Hello everyone!

It's been awfully quiet around here for a long time, hasn't it? Can't say I blame anyone.

If you saw the solicits for August's comics on any of the various comics news aggregates (Newsarama, CBR, Comics Alliance), then you already saw the Justice League International and JLI Annual solicits.

But I think the press release for the solicits left out two very important words.

FINAL ISSUE.

Justice League International will be ending with the Annual in August.

I don't know about you guys, but I'll be glad to see it go.

DC Halloween 2011!

Last year I dressed up a few DC couples in Disney-themed costumes. This year, it’s all about Sci-Fi and I received a lot of great suggestions - thank you!

[L-R]: Koriand’r (Starfire)/Dick Grayson (Nightwing) as Amy and The Doctor (Dr. Who), Ted Kord (Blue Beetle)/Michael Carter (Booster Gold) as Kirk and Spock (Star Trek: TOS), Arthur Light (Dr. Light III)/Kimiyo Hoshi (Dr. Light IV) as programs (TRON: Legacy), Tora Olafsdotter (Ice)/Guy Gardner (Green Lantern) as Princess Leia and Han Solo (Star Wars), Komand’r (Blackfire)/Vril Dox II (Brainiac 2) as Barbarella and Pygar (Barbarella), Wally West (Flash) and Linda Park-West (professional badass) as Mad Max and Aunty Entity (Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome).

Tomorrow, 9/7/11, Justice League International #1 will be released.

If you haven't already seen it, Comic Book Resources has a five-page preview here.

This post can serve as our discussion post, and I'm sure our sister community
boostle will have one as well.

I also wanted to make this post so we can have a last goodbye to the old series.

I'm sure by now most of you have seen things circulating on various sites, other blogs, people's Tumblrs. If you haven't, let me ruin (the rest of) your day.

According to Dan Didio, Justice League International in its original incarnation never existed, nor did one of her founding members.

Ted Kord does not, nor has he ever existed in the current, Brand New DC Universe.

I am guessing neither did Scott and Barda Free. Or Dmitri Pushkin. The jury's out on the Dibnys but I wouldn't hold much hope. L-Ron and G'nort? Hell, they wouldn't even acknowledge G'nort before the reboot. Not even Captain and Mary Marvel made it out unscathed. If they're lucky, they'll end up on Earth-Two with the Justice Society.

It's very likely that Generation Lost is no longer considered canon and the relationships established in that series are now forfeit as well.

Let's come together as a community right now. Let's talk. Let's cry. Let's remember why we love these comics. Let's be angry together. Let's make outlandish theories about Booster's Canadian citizenship.

Let's all go to Warrior's and raise a glass for Justice League International. For our team.

Hi everybody,

Just wanted to let y'all know that I have disabled anonymous commenting once again. We just got a spammy comment and I don't want anyone to get infected with viruses or nanobots or Bialyan brainwashing.

Also, tomorrow is August 1st, which means we have one month left to enjoy the DC Universe As We Know It. Let's give the Old DCU a grand and glorious send-off.

Now might be a good time to bring back discussions for a JLI read-along, or maybe just post some of our favorite scenes from JLI, JLE, Superbuddies...even the JLI teamup in Blue Beetle ver. 1.0.

When September rolls around, we can gather around to read and discuss JLI 2.0 and how much of a clusterfuck it is.

It's an exciting, nerve-wracking time to be a fan of Justice League International, my friends. Let's all hold hands and hang on for the ride.

CBR has a couple of really nice, Scott Free and Ted Kord-centric, preview pages from the forthcoming DC Retroactive: JLA 1990s* comic due out in August.

At my ArtFire store, I've been selling heroclix based jewelry for a while. Lately, I've added charm bracelets, custom earrings and bracelets, and sets inspired by the Reboot (for and against, whichever you are). There are plenty of JLI members to pick from, and if there are any heroclix you'd like to see, message me through ArtFire, and I'd be happy provide any custom order. (Also, it's free to request surgical steel for the earring pieces, if you're allergic to other metals.)

Have some picture examples under the cut! <3Collapse )

I foresee life annoying me for the next week, so I'm putting up a whatever-I-feel-like challenge on my lj. That is to say, you give me a prompt and I'll respond with a one-sentence, a drabble or a sketch. Basically, as it says on the tin, whatever I feel like.

So... entertain me.

x-posted all over the damn place

So since the pin-up calendar thing was a hit and there seems to be plenty of interest in another one (along with suggestions of starting discussions/sign-ups earlier than before), this will be the first official 2012 JLI Calendar post. There are two main points to be covered in this post:

Point 1-

I'll be graduating this December which means I'll also be looking for a job and possibly moving in response to my possible job. What does this mean for the calendar asides from being the reason why discussions are starting so early? It means either the submissions MUST get sent in some time in November for me to set up (absolutely serious about it this time) OR someone else will have to volunteer to hound people for submissions/make sure everything's properly sized/post the calendar for download.

Point 2-

A lot of people expressed interest in having a theme for this calendar. Now is your time to suggest one. It can be anything (except explicit porn, gore, gorn or the like). Should it be a fighting theme? Family/friends group shots? Roaring 20s gangster group? Genderbender calendar? Everyone poses with a baby animal? You suggest and you decide.
